BGSU teaming up with University of Toledo and Ohio Northern University to offer FREE cybersecurity training for teachers

Mark your calendar for Tuesday, June 17 to join this FREE online cyber workshop brought to you from Bowling Green State University, one of our 19 Regional Programming Centers.

BGSU is teaming up with University of Toledo and Ohio Northern University to offer FREE 2.5 hours cybersecurity training for teachers from 1-3:40PM via Zoom. College experts will teach junior/senior high school teachers five modules of material that can be used in the classroom. Topics include encryption, password security, social engineering, multi-factor authentication and malware and SQL hacking. Participating teachers can earn a certificate of professional development hours.

BGSU and University of Toledo Team Up to Offer Cybersecurity Workshops for Seniors

Seniors can learn cybersecurity practices and how to keep safe on the internet by recognizing common cyberattacks. Participants will learn how to know if a cyberattack has occurred and what actions to take. Program offered June 3, 10, 21 and 28 at the Toledo Public Library.

Ohio State University's Institute For Cybersecurity and Digital Trust (ICDT) to host FREE Cyber Research Symposium on May 7

OSU's Institute for Cybersecurity and Digital Trust to host the ICDT Research Symposium 2025, on May 7 2025, 9am - 5pm, at Pomerene Hall. The symposium aims to foster collaboration within ICDT and industry partners. The goal is to connect academic research within the university while solving real-world challenges across disciplines. Speakers will be presenting on cybersecurity topics such as AI, 5G/6G, energy, manufacturing, and funding.

OCRI To Host Inaugural Statewide Capture The Flag Competition

The University of Cincinnati’s Ohio Cyber Range Institute (OCRI) will host the first-of-its-kind statewide Capture The Flag (CTF) cyber competition to build skills and bring greater awareness to the cybersecurity field.

The competition is for college and high school students and will take place 11AM-4PM on Saturday, April 12 at UC’s 1819 Innovation Hub, 2900 Reading Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45206. In addition to the University of Cincinnati, five Ohio universities will also be competition hosting sites, with the entire competition being managed by UC’s Ohio Cyber Range Institute.

Ohio Cybersecurity for Small Businesses

The Ohio State University Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence is offering FREE online cybersecurity courses for small businesses (fewer than 500 employees). The courses, funded in part through a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration, is an introduction to cybersecurity practices that takes on average 3-4 hours to complete.

The courses outline general best practices and provide information about many different areas of a business' cybersecurity plan. Topics include phishing, cyber inventory, network security, and passwords. Businesses can learn practical skills in cyberattack prevention, response and recovery. All content is online, on-demand, and self-paced with ongoing registration.

Miami University Named OCRI Regional Programming Center

Miami University was officially named a Regional Programming Center (RPC) for the Ohio Cyber Range Institute (OCRI) in July 2024. As an RPC, Miami University is now part of a collaborative group of state universities and government entities which works to further the OCRI’s goals of education, workforce development, and economic growth in the area of cybersecurity.

Kent State University designated Ohio Cyber Range Institute Regional Programming Center

A big warm welcome to Kent State University for joining the Ohio Cyber Range Institute as a Regional Programming Center (RPC), a statewide collaboration of now 19 RPCs at 26 institutions that work to strengthen cybersecurity education and workforce and economic development.

UD Lands State Funding to Create Apps for Children and Police

The University of Dayton, one of 18 regional programming centers in the OCRI ecosystem, received a $193,981 Ohio Third Frontier grant to improve cybersecurity in the region. UD will use the grant for cybersecurity activities in their surrounding community.
